As an immediate measure to curb the spread of Covid-19, most educational institutions in India have resorted to online education, closing offline classes for more than a year now. But what does this mean for students from financially backward sections of society who do not have access to high-speed internet and essential equipment like laptops, tablets, or smartphones? What about those children whose parents may not be able to guide them in their studies, leading to a lack of motivation?

It is heartbreaking that the destruction caused by Covid-19 is physical and psychological, where deprivation of online education could affect students with their self-esteem and their academic selves. These children do not have access to a digital device which restricts their ability to attend online classes. Further, due to lack of reliable guidance, such students understanding of academics is limited, which are vital in elementary and high school education.

How is Right To Live Helping?

Through our E-learning campaign across 12 government high schools in Karnataka, we have identified 200 students who do not have the means to procure devices that aid in imparting education, and 8th, 9th and 10th-grade students who are subjected to demotivation due to the absence of a good mentor. Sometimes, these students fail in few subjects, while poor parents do not have the time or knowledge to guide them or admit them to tuition classes. These promising and bright students hail from poor economic backgrounds, and buying a digital device or sending them to tuition is often seen as a luxury. This leads to the very harsh reality of increased dropouts.

We aim to change this premise through Right To Live’s 1-to-1 program for connecting students through a ‘Mentoring Program’ held virtually by the corporates employee volunteers. We intend to help students from government schools to improve their English communication and and their overall academic performance. Right To Live is doing everything in its power to reduce the increasing rate of dropouts in these government schools, and for that, we need your support.

We recognize the social gap in access to technology and attempt to bridge this gap through our Digital Device Donation Drive. For students under the mentorship program, Right To Live wishes to provide Smart devices to the needy, which will be under the care of the school administration.

You can help us by sponsoring a digital device for them to use. Remember, this simple device can open the doors of knowledge for a child and transform theirs and their families’ lives. Every little contribution matters – Donate Now!

You will be pleased to know that 100% of your donation goes to the procurement new/refurbished devices. We do not use any part of donations for admin expenses since our trustees cover those costs. So, please come forward and lend a helping hand to educate poor and ambitious students.

Your contribution can and will make a significant difference in a child’s life.
